World building for my webcomic, part 3

The best thing I feel about creating a new webcomic is that there’s not set way to do it. You just start and go the way you want. Personally, I’ve been doing a little bit of sketching some characters for First Earth. I love this part because I can really let my imagination take over.

With my sketches, I think about what they will look like, any type of poses (I have these Pigma posing dolls that I can put into poses, really works) that would give me problems and just sketch it for practice. When I feel comfortable with everything, I draw with my non photo pencil, fill in the figure with muscles and body and finish it with the rest of the final drawings.

I’m wondering, what’s your sketching process? Let me know and as always,

Be blessed.

  1. Yep, I sure don’t have a set process. I’m just blamming ahead. My main character is a stick figure (so cheaty) but everything he’s surrounded by is more realistic. So, drawing a rag is time consuming but sticking in my lead character is not. Also, it’s all on the computer so I’m saving everything from dish pan drawings to speech balloons as templates.
